Yeah, hurray, we have moved in and - almost more important- we now have a phone and internet. In short: the container arrived in good order, the movers carried everything into the house and mostly where we wanted it to go, pretty much all boxes are unpacked, apliences are connected and finally we have what we would call a landline. The house is dry and nice and warm and there is plenty of space. It is all good. Photo's to follow soon, ofcourse, we are not that organised yet...

En voor wie het nog niet begrepen had: we zijn in ons huis getrokken en zijn uitgepakt en ingericht. De container is goed aangekomen en de verhuizers hebben alles vlot naar binnen gedragen en in de meeste gevallen ook daar waar we het wilden, da's mooi meegenomen natuurlijk. Al dezelfde avond waren alle bedden opgemaakt en stonden alle tafels enzo. Oma Ann kwam met de kindjes en het avondeten en waren we meteen best gesettled. Inmiddels zijn ook de meeste apparaten voorzien van een nieuwe stekker en aangesloten. En dan het meest geweldige nieuws: we hebben telefoon en internet! Jippie!!!! Nu zal er dus vlot een volgende update (met foto's) volgen.
Verder zitten we er lekker bij, het huis is lekker ruim, lekker warm en vooral ook droog.
Kindjes slapen goed, hebben een speelkamer (wat afgelopen weekend erg fijn was want het regende pijpestelen!)
Nou, nu dus op zoek naar speelkameraadjes voor Christiaan en Liam, een peuterspeelzaal en vooral ook: banen!!!!

Waiheke Break & at Olaf's - Bij oom Olaf & Waiheke break
21 June, Winter starts here and the summer in Europe, strange thought. Anyway, we are now staying at Olaf's house, since we came back from a short break on Waiheke. We hired a small house there and enjoyed fires in the woodburner, playgrounds, story time at the library where Jolyon just managed to send in an application for a job at IBM, getting wet at the beach (Christiaan that is), drinking fluffies (fluffed up milk), visiting Electra, playing with all the boys (Electra's three plus our two) at their place, at the playground and the beach. It was all good, apart from some sort of fourlegged vermin racing around in the ceiling, wall and floor space of that house at night, really quite disturbing!
Of course the trip over and back on the ferry was quite exciting for the little men, although Liam slept all the way back, being wasted from a big play in the playground, time mainly spend on the swing and chasing birds. Thursday we had a little bit of time between arriving on the ferry and Jolyon having to be at the accountant for a meeting, so we paid Dave Parore a quick visit...and were late for the meeting.
Inge, Christiaan and Liam went to play at a playground, but it was in the shade and a bit chilly, so we moved to the beach, were Liam did lots of shoveling and Christiaan walk around in the surf, claiming it was not cold at all. But when the sun was gone and his pants were sodden, he caved in to the lure of uncle Olaf's house and I packed the kids into the car and left Jols to come home with Olaf and oma Ann.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday were all prety relaxed and mostly filled with playing with the traintracks and the cars (for the little people that is) while the big people tried to organise things like electricity, phone, fridge and more such things. Tomorrow we wioll get the keys to the house and will probably do a big clean, in the afternoon and/or the evening. On Tuesday the container arrives at the house and we hope to find our stuff in good condition! We are keeping our fingers crossed.
Oh, Christiaan is teaching Liam new words: douche (shower) for example, but he came up with weg (gone) and Lightning (as in McQueen, from the Cars-movie) very important stuff. He is also demanding to drink from an open cup quite often now. Christiaan is doing well, playing with the trains and cars, but getting very frustrated when Liam takes or brakes things! He has had his head completely under water in the spa pool and not crying about it, loves to get all mucky and dirty and sandy and wet at the beach or in the mangroves and just hanging out with the cousins. Top priority when we move is to find him some playmates!
En nog even een nederlandse versie: We hebben afgelopen zaterdag opa en omi naar het vliegveld gebracht en toen waren we 'on our own', nou ja, soort van... De volgende ochtend vroeg Christiaan wel waar omi was, maar op weg naar Nederland met het vliegtuig was afdoende antwoord, gelukkig. Op zondag hebben we een huisje geboekt op Waiheke, een eiland in de baai van Auckland, waar onze vriendin Electra ook woont (met Nederlandse man en drie zoontjes). Het was een leuk huisje met een houtkachel. Christiaan mocht helpen vuur maken en dat was natuurlijk erg spannend. Verder was er verhaaltjes-tijd in de bieb, speeltuinen, strand en fluffies (opgeschuimde melk) drinken, op visite (en eten) bij Electra, daar en op het strand en in de speeltuin spelen met haar jongens enz. Erg leuk allemaal. Christiaan vond ook de trip met de pont erg interessant en spelen aan het strand, steentjes gooien, scheppen, water gooien, kastelen bouwen, het is allemaal even leuk. Liam wilde 100 keer zijn voeten begraven hebben en ook weer (zelf) terugtoveren natuurlijk! Erg schattig. Maandag tot en met donderdag waren we op Waiheke en sinds donderdagavond zijn we weer op het vasteland en bivakeren we bij Olaf thuis. De kindjes wilden dat allemaal erg graag (en Olaf ook denk ik) en Ann's moeder was inmiddels weer terug bij haar in huis, dus het was ook wel logisch.
Morgen, maandag 22/6, krijgen we de sleutel en gaan we dus schoonmaken, want dinsdag komt de container (hopelijk in een redelijke staat! We duimen hard!). Alles wordt wel voor ons naar binnen gedragen (gelukkig, want de onze slaapkamer en Liams slaapkamer zijn op de tweede verdieping!), maar niet uitgepakt. Maar deze week dus weer een nieuwe fase: een eigen huis! Dat zal wel fijn zijn.
Verder eist Liam regelmatig een open beker om uit te drinken en doet het ook best goed. Christiaan leert hem nieuwe woordjes, zoals douche en zelf doet hij ook lekker zijn best, gisteren bijvoorbeeld 'weg' en 'Lightning' (als in de auto uit de film Cars).
Binnenkort zullen we hier even foto's toevoegen en natuurlijk foto's van het ' nieuwe' huis publiceren. Tot later!

Sometimes time seems to crawl by and sometimes it flies, but here is another post. Finally...
So what have we been up to? The weekend with the cousins was really nice. We went for a hike and a play at Totora Park.
After that Liam was absolutely wasted and he had to go and nap. Christiaan did not want to come with us, he really prefered to stay with his cousins. They had lunch and a play in the spa pool and it was all good. Especially Hazel was very much loved. After Liams sleep we went over too and we all had a lovely dinner together. More playing afterwards ofcourse and the boys were real troopers. They really did

The next morning we all went for a swim. Then to Oma Ann's house for lunch (pumpkin soup and buns, outside in the garden) and Ann, Michele, Olaf and Jolyon sorted out Bill's things. Meanwhile the kids played and watched Cars. After that unfortunately, Michele, Simon, Jason and Hazel had to go and pack for the trip back home to Wellington. (On Saturdaynight Michele actually got a text saying it snowed in Upper Hutt and that their friends were making a snow man on the deck!) No snow in Auckland though! Only some frost on the lawn in the mornings.
The rest of the week was mostly spend checking out houses and Inge actually had an interview at a recruitment agency. Between us we have already filled out quite a few online application forms and most of them are not really userfriendly I must say...
But, on Friday we say two really nice houses. We applied for both and spend the whole weekend praying ;-)
On Saturday we had a real New Zealand morning. We went out to watch Marnie and Isaak play soccer and got rained on big time! Fortunately, Inge had managed to pick up a new raincoat the day before and it proved to be a good buy. Afterwards we all went to Olaf's place for coffee and then home for lunch. When Liam was in bed, Jolyon and Inge drove to the Henderson pool together to check out the Schools Championships, so Inge could write a piece on it which could also serve as proof of her (my) ability to write in English.
Sunday we went to the Zoo and that was really nice. More than just nice actually and so we decided to splash out on season tickets. So tigers, beware ... we will be back!
This morning (Monday) we experienced a bit of stress because we were supposed to sign the lease on a house on the Great South Road, but we preferred the two we saw on Friday. Time was ticking away and we still hadn't heard. Just before it was time to leave we received the call saying we can rent one of the two preferred properties, a town house on Dell Ave! Yippie! We can move in on the 23rd. This is one week after the container is due to arrive, so that is alright. Hopefully Ann can stand our noise and mess for a little while longer...
En voor wie dat liever heeft, nog een stukske in het Nederlands. Ja, dat moeten we ook een beetje bijhouden natuurlijk. Nou, het grootste nieuws voor de kindjes was dat we met alle neefjes en nichtjes bij elkaar zijn geweest, omdat Michele, Jolyons zus, uit Wellington was over gekomen voor het weekend. Michele en Simon hebben twee kinderen, Jason en Hazel. Op de foto's dus alle neefjes en nichtjes en ook de hele Nieuw-Zeelandse familie.
Verder hebben we vandaag gehoord dat we een huis wat we wilden hebben ook daadwerkelijk kunnen gaan betrekken en wel op de 23ste. Dat is wel een lekker gevoel, al is het hier (bij oma Ann) ook erg goed toeven.
Maar inmiddels hebben we dus de meeste zaken van ons lijstje af kunnen vinken: auto, check, bankrekening, check, NZ rijbewijs, check, huis, check. Maar bovenaan het lijstje staan dus nog de banen. Maar elke week lijkt er toch iets te gebeuren, dus wie weet, volgende week?
We zullen het zien!
